We all love superheroes and just love to enter into the fantasy world. Superheroes are loved, and celebrated for decades. They entertain us in a very unique way, a way that only a diehard fan can explain. The comics and feature length movies both have their own fan followings and both create the magic that no one wants to let go. In this era of superheroes, science fiction and fantasies, we have two giants producers, Marvel and DC, of heroes that we love. Now the Question arises, who do you like the best? Each one of them is struggling to top the other with the unique and very own game plan methods. So let’s see who is doing the best.
So for your convenience, we have jotted down a list of what Marvel has for its fans and what DC has for the lovers of Superheroes.
How did Marvel progress over the period of time?
Marvel has been releasing up to two movies every year. ‘Avengers’ was there from the very beginning in their minds but their strategy has been to include a series of individual hero films as a build up. They became ‘Mega-Franchise’ altogether after the crossover. And now the trend continues of bringing in the movies that exceeds the fan base of the previous one and now the situation is that even a lesser-known character from the comics earns profits when brought onto the big screen.
The list of movies from 2008 to 2014
Iron Man (2008)
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Iron Man 2 (2010)
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
The Avengers (2012)
Iron Man 3 (2013)
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
List of Upcoming Projects
Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015)
Captain America 3 (2016)
Doctor Strange (2016)
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (2017)
Thor 3 (2017)
Avengers 3 (2018)
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (2013-present)
Agent Carter (2015)
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D was an amazing entertaining show due to it’s tie in with the ‘The Winter Soldier’. To get through a rocky start, shows like these need to be dependent or you can say just rely a little bit on the support and continuity of their big screen ‘parents’.
Now when it comes to DC, their ‘The Dark Knight Trilogy’ was a huge international success that gave a memorable moments and acting for years to come. But we can’t say exactly the same about ‘Green Lanterns’.
Now the success of ‘The Avengers’ on Box-office caught the attention of DC and made them worry for their own self and this is how the game slipped away from the hands of DC. Some well-known hero movies were already released before the DCU was brought about and then they had shortcomings of what they can offer. Their heroes had very little to show and reach to new heights. So just in gathering up themselves and bringing back everything together they wasted a lot of time.
List of previous and upcoming projects of DC
Man Of Steel (2013)
Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016)
Justice League (2017)
Wonder Woman (2017)
Man Of Steel 2 (2018)
Batman (Again) (2019)
By looking at the upcoming projects, it seems like they are trying to hold on to the strategy of Marvel as they are going for the reversal by starting with a lead-up to the Justice League Crossover, which is followed by several follow-ups currently in the works.
Arrow (2012- present)
The Flash (2014)
Now the TV show like Gotham do not really match up with the Ben Affleck’s character in the upcoming movie which makes Gotham look like an overly stretched premise on the origins of ‘Batman’ and the ‘Police of the City’. So DC Seems to be focusing on the vision of Marvel and providing the competition that is greater than the idea of maintaining the full purity of their own characters.
DC unlike Marvel does not really provide a mix of both humor and thrills of action. DC focuses on providing the dark gloomy feel that The Dark Knight Trilogy brought in. So Marvel in this case makes their productions enjoyable.
According to the news Sony and Marvel are now working on the upcoming Spider-Man movie in 2017 making it big flashy news all around.
So the conclusion still remains unmarked as at the end of the day what should be important to these studios is that the put the heroes on the big screen without ruining them for money or without cutting them into pieces for the sake of money. What each one of them should do is to wait for the right time and perfect spotlight.
